Looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of MedellĂn?

Consider an expedition to San JosĂŠ del Guaviare.

Here you can see:

- Relatively unknown wall paintings dating back to the ice age.

- A surreal-looking river full of colorful algae, which gives it its distinctive color.

The Trip:

San JosĂŠ del Guaviare, the Guaviare department's capital, is located where the Llanos Orientales (Eastern Plains) meet the Amazon jungle.

It's a starting point for exploring forests, savannas, rivers, and indigenous cultures. Chiribiquete Natural National Park, where the wall paintings are located, is the largest in Colombia.
