Short Note: Traveling To The Coffee Region From Medellín
Cocora Valley, one of the Coffee Region’s main attractions.
You can get to the Coffee Region (Salento, Filandia, Cocora Valley) from Medellín either by bus or plane.
By bus: Grab a direct bus to Salento or Filandia. It's a 5-6 hour ride. You can get tickets at the Terminal de Transportes del Sur in Medellín.
By plane: Take a direct flight to Pereira or Armenia, both in the Coffee Region, about a 50-minute flight. You've got two airport choices in Medellín: José María Córdova (MDE) or Olaya Herrera (EOH). Once you're in Pereira or Armenia, it's a 1-hour bus ride to Salento.
Cocora Valley: When you're in Salento, a jeep can take you to Cocora Valley in about 30 minutes. After exploring Cocora Valley, you can take a bus to Filandia from Salento.
Recommended itinerary: If you have 3-4 days, I recommend flying to Pereira or Armenia and then taking a bus to Salento. Once you are in Salento, you can take day trips to Filandia and the Cocora Valley. It's a good base for exploring the region.
Tips: - Be prepared for winding roads and steep hills when traveling in the Coffee Region. - Bring comfortable shoes and clothing, as you will be doing a lot of walking. - The Coffee Region is located at a higher altitude than Medellín, so it can be cooler and more rainy. Be sure to pack accordingly.
